Blancpain Leman Flyback Chronograph Reference 1185F-1130M-63
Blancpain Leman Flyback Chronograph Reference 1185F-1130M-63
Featuring a stunning stepped glossy and sunburst black dial, its original strap and buckle, this is a wonderful mix of elegance, restraint, and pure sportiness with a very strong, proportional presence from its 33mm stainless steel case.
In an era where it seems an automatic flyback chronograph can’t exist below 40mm and 15mm thick, this turn of the century classic provides modern sportiness at a more reasonable size.
Case: 33.5mm Stainless Steel case is in very good condition, measuring approximately (just) 9mm thick and 37.5mm lug to lug. Case is extremely clean throughout with very minimal wear or surface swirl marks, save for some minor tool marks at the caseback opening notch, primarily visbile under magnification only.
Dial: Stunning stepped glossy and sunburst black dial with oversized luminova Arabic numerals and hands. This dial is a real trip, so much going on, so aggressively sporty and oversized, yet executed at such a high level, it retains its elegance. The inner and outer perimeter of the dial are glossy black soleil or sunburst, contrasting the slightly sunken glossy hour track, which is further contrasted by the triple stepped, sunken registers containing polished and lumed broad Alpha hands that really jump out, creating a lot of depth and dimension.
The lumed Arabic numerals are oversized and sporty, matching the aggressively legible, sporty and tool / Pilot watch nature of the broad hands. It’s such a purely sporty and aggressive, legible presentation that’s so surprising because it melds so seamlessly with the elegance and refinement of the watch at the same time.
The sunken, color matching date wheel at 6 o’clock is quick set, about as unobtrusive as it gets and very nicely finished as well.
Movement: The Blancpain F185 automatic movement is working properly, keeping time at about +8s per day, with all chronograph and date changing functions working properly. It’s a shame the solid caseback obstructs this Frederic Piguet 1185 caliber as it’s very beautiful and said to be the second Swiss automatic winding integrated chronograph movements after the Zenith El Primero. It features a column wheel with vertical clutch and beautiful finishing on the movement and gold winding rotor.
Includes: This watch is presented on its original signed brown leather strap with signed stainless steel buckle.
