Blancpain Villeret Ultra Thin Chronometer Ref 7002
Blancpain Villeret Ultra Thin Chronometer Ref 7002
Easily the leading candidate for watches that “feel” like a a lot more than the price would suggest, in my very humble opinion, and the subject of numerous wonderful articles and reviews of yesteryear.
Dial: The flawless matte-eggshell white dial with mirror polished applied Breguet numerals set neatly in a slightly sunken hour track providing a great deal of depth and dimension to the dial. The no-date with sub seconds and modest and warm lume manages to be modern, timeless, dressy, and sporty.
Case: The 36mm stainless steel case is just 6.8mm thin with its thin signature double shoulder bezel and nicely sized signed crown. The 7002 was the brand’s first (and only at the time) stainless steel case to feature a sapphire caseback displaying the beautifully finished movement. The case is believed to be unpolished and very clean throughout with only minor surface scratches present as photographed.
Movement: the manually wound Blancpain caliber 64-1 is a heavily modified and finished Pseaux 7001 that was Blancpain’s only certified chronometer at time of launch. The watch is winding, setting, and running well, averaging approximately -7 s/d across 6 positions. Service history is unknown.
Includes: Presented on a black leather strap in very good condition with it’s original stainless steel pin buckle.
