Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 4100 ST Serviced with papers
The 4100ST or Royal Oak III was the first midsize model and first featuring a central seconds hand. The AP Chronicles website provides a fascinating and comprehensive history of the model of which just 2,721 units were produced in steel.
Case: The 35mm case measures approximately 44mm lug to lug and 7.2mm thick, it is overall great condition with original finishing, corners, chamfers, edges, etc. throughout. Brushing is very consistent and vibrant on all surfaces and especially the bezel. There is one small surface scratch to the bezel just after 4 o’clock, that is only visible at certain angles, and not noticeable at all on wrist. The watch has likely seen a sympathetic polish in the past, remaining very honest, full, and sharp throughout.
Dial: The petite tapisserie dial is in excellent condition, featuring the early small font signature, and rich even patina across the hour markers and hands. The dial is turning slightly tropical around some of the hour markers, which is most visible in certain lighting conditions, add an additional layer of character and visual interest to and already dynamic dial that exhibits various shades of grays and blues.
Movement: The watch was just serviced by AP in early 2025 with the hacking and quickset caliber 2325 and new AP signed crown.
Bracelet: the original bracelet includes 21 total links, 8 of which are removable and will fit a wrist of about 7”. The bracelet is overall in great condition with no notable stretch or wear.
Includes: Original certificate of guarantee booklets, what I believe to be a service card from 2004, leather documents folder, service boxes, and digital extract confirming it was originally registered 5 June 1979.
