#whatsCTpulling : Gatomboya AB from Mountain Air Roasting

Pretty much anytime I'm at a loss for who to order coffee from next I check and see what Mountain Air Roasting has.  And I'm sure glad I did because this SL-28 varietal Kenyan coffee, Gatomboya AB, is very tasty.  Mountain Air's descriptions of their coffees are typically a bit elaborate, but still very spot on, like this one:

Caramel and cane sugar sweetness dominate the dry fragrance, with lush tropical fruit and grape notes. It develops a very nice chocolate and citrus scent. The wet aromatics add blackberry syrup to caramel, with fresh cream and cherry on top. The cup also has a creamy sweetness, peachy with a blackcurrant and baking spice flavor.  There is no question this has complex, clean fruit notes. Peach turns toward apple as the cup cools with hazelnut as a backdrop. It’s a bright Kenya for sure, but not over-the-top, so it can have broad appeal to a range of palates.

Recipes were pretty straight forward for both brewed coffee and espresso with this one: 1:2 ratio, 200*F, pretty standard brewing times, about 3:00 for a pourover and 30-35 seconds for espresso.

I think this coffee can hold up to small amount of milk, but it really does best on its own to present the sweet berry syrup and creamy sweetness flavors.

$14.68 for a 250 gram bag and shipping is always free, but if you buy 4 or more bags, you also get 30% off, making this coffee very reasonably priced considering many top roasters typically charge $20+ for a 12 ounce bag of quality Kenyan coffee.  I love that Mountain Air roasts coffees that strike the perfect balance of bringing out the coffee's natural flavors, but roasting it properly so it tastes balanced and brews consistently.
